Arri Production Matte Box MB-19

The ARRI MB-19 is built for productions where a full-size studio matte box is the right tool for the job. Larger than ARRI's lightweight LMB range, it's commonly found on feature films, high-end television productions and commercial shoots where cameras are fully rigged with follow focus systems, studio bridge plates and professional support equipment. If you're building a traditional cinema camera package, the MB-19 remains one of the industry's benchmark matte boxes.

The bellows back allows the matte box to accommodate both 114mm and 95mm front diameter lenses, creating an effective light seal while providing flexibility across a wide range of cinema optics. The matte box can be mounted to both lightweight 15mm rod systems and full studio 19mm rod systems, making it equally at home on compact cinema builds or larger production cameras configured for studio work.

Like any professional matte box, the MB-19 gives you complete control over filtration. The supplied filter stages accept both landscape and portrait PV filter trays, allowing you to use neutral density filters, graduated NDs, polarisers, diffusion filters and a wide range of creative filters depending on the requirements of the shoot. A full set of mattes is also included, helping to minimise light leaks and ensure the correct fit across different lens diameters.

The included top and side flags provide excellent control over stray light, reducing unwanted flare and helping maintain image contrast when working in bright or challenging lighting conditions. This level of light control is one of the reasons the MB-19 continues to be a popular choice for cinematographers working on controlled studio environments and large-scale location productions alike.
